Reflection
Our first shot was an establishing shot and gave a good idea
of where our character was, but we could have filmed or edited it better. We could
have added a dark filter to give it a gloomy vibe or gone to a darker hallway
for the same effect. The second shot was a POV, and it was good and could have
been better but with limited time and resources and can only be so good. Made the
viewer feel like there inside the mind of our character.
The third shot, a close-up, was a good choice, it introduced
another character and revealed the character’s emotions clearly; however, it
would have been improved in a different location because the window was very
dirty and foggy. The fourth shot of Marshall was a dolly shot, which was well tracked
and offered insight into the scene while highlighting his emotions. The fifth
shot was also very good for Colton who was well-placed using the rule of
thirds, the framing was strong, and the empty hallway reinforced the sense of
isolation.
The sixth and seventh shots were also very good and worked
well together, presenting two perspectives of the same moment. The first was an
important pause in me washing my hands and looking into the mirror, adding
emotional depth. The second angle was the best choice, giving viewers clarity
on the character and the unfolding moment and was a cool shot using the reflection
showing the empty bathroom.
The eighth shot was Marshall’s scene, where he rubs his
shoulder, felt confusing, but was still good incorporating the rain in the
background which enhanced the atmosphere of isolation. The nineth and next
shot, however, was very lacking and the angle was very weird and did not fit a POV
shot would have been better showing what Colton was seeing and how empty the
classroom was.
The tenth shot with Colton was well-executed and effectively
tracked. The eleventh shot was a low angle shot of Colton that followed added
contrast. The twelfth shot of Lupo could have been better and should have been
more serious than it was supposed to be funny, but it didn’t really mix very
well with the entire film.
Finally, the medium-close shot of Colton which concluded the
film was decent. Overall, the project succeeded in exploring isolation through
varied perspectives. The varied perspectives was confusing and should have been
better explained or incorporated or left out all alone and just one
perspective.
